Originally from California, Justin and Amy Rossi have lived and established a borosilicate glassblowing practice on the Central Coast of NSW for the past six years. They currently operate their studio/ gallery, Imagine Creations Glassworks where visitors to the gallery can enjoy the experience of watching one of a kind hand blown glass art being created in the flame. The studio/ gallery located at Tuggerah Supa Centa, is where they produce all of their work; Justin and Amy encourage spectators in order to share their passion and raise interest and awareness of this rare art form.
For J & Amy, the appeal of working glass in the flame was first realized when they were teenagers, watching glassblowing demonstrations at a local gallery in Santa Cruz, California. Through University, Amy took classes in leadlight and hot shop glassblowing, but the limitations of coldworking and the lack of precise detail and control of hotshop magnified the desire to set up a flameworking studio.
Justin has always had a fascination with fire; now utilizing this primitive tool with carefully honed understanding and control, fire is the catalyst that allows them to manipulate and transform glass into their creations. Since his youth, Justin has felt an incessant desire to design and create with his hands. After many years of working with a variety of artistic media, he has devoted the last six years working towards mastery of his glassblowing skill. Justin and Amy love to design and create three dimensional works of art in the in flame, bound only by the limits of their imagination.
The breathtaking coastline of the local area is a prevailing inspiration in their life and is reflected in their work. When not working in the studio, pursuing their passion for glass, Justin is an avid surfer and keen fisherman. Amy loves being out in nature whether it be beachcombing for tidal treasures, surfing, hiking or biking. They both love spending time with their four year old son, Jason who has already started designing and making a collection of glass bugs and marbles with mum and dad.
